Second annual Pilam Golf Outings – Teeing up in Philly, Florida and Ohio
In August, more than 150 brothers teed off another year of organized golf-like activity in the name of brotherhood. This year was a true shotgun start with duffers in three regional outings spanning the east in Philly, Florida and Ohio.
Philly Outing Highlights
Walnut Lane Golf Club, Philadelphia
Brochure features: “It’s pretty close to a really good cheesesteak place.”
Participating chapters: Drexel, Temple, Salisbury, Univ of Florida, and Univ of the Sciences
A group of Drexel brothers, reportedly using rangefinders, calculus and slide rules, won the day with a foursome at 16 under par.
Before the round, Governor Ed Rendell (Penn ’65) addressed the group “Big Brother” fashion via Zoom. And Penn State’s Ricky Wolf ’10, generously donated refreshments from Stable 12 Brewing Company, in Phoenixville, PA.
Florida Lammie Outing Highlights

Jacaranda Country Club, Plantation Florida

Participating chapters: Univ of Florida, Florida State, Univ of Illinois, and FIT
At the end of the round the club’s president, Judge Elihu Smails, offered all golfers a complimentary Fresca.
Ohio Open
Hosted by the OH Beta Tau Alumni Association
Springvale Golf Course & Ballroom, Olmsted Ohio
Brochure features: “Historic 1923 ballroom, paired with flowing fabric and lights.”
Participating chapters: Baldwin Wallace
Some alumni in attendance, eager to display their formal dance training were disappointed that the ballroom was closed for the season.

The Fraternity was very pleased with the success of both this year and last year’s golf outings and is eager to find opportunities for future regional events and activities.
