Avidus sponsors Pilam Speaker Series
Five distinguished Pilam alumni will share their stories and leadership advice at Convention on August 6th thanks to the program’s sponsor, Avidus, and its CEO, Brandon Taylor ’96 – VCU.
The Speaker Lineup
The speakers have an impressive and diverse array of experiences.
- Senator Ben Cardin – Senior U.S. Senator
- General Keith Dayton – 3-star general
- Representative Malcolm Kenyatta – PA State Representative
- Amin Nikfar – Two-time Olympian
- Leigh Steinberg – Sports agent
Brandon showed Pilam the money!
Why support the speaker series? Brandon quipped, “first, the Fraternity asked.”
Brandon also liked the idea of supporting Pilam because “loyalty is a core value of mine” and that he believes his company shares many of the high-minded values of the Fraternity.
The speakers themselves were also a reason. A board member of Avidus is a former Navy SEAL, so the prospect of hearing from a high level military officer was compelling.
Brandon also said jokingly, “In my younger days people used to say I looked like Tom Cruise, so I’m excited to see the guy who Tom Cruise played in the movie Jerry McGuire (Leigh Steinberg).”
Not Four Years…
Brotherhood and our motto always resonated with Brandon. After college, he supported the fraternity in a number of advisory roles, including the refounding of the UVA chapter.
He also served on the International Executive Council and experienced camaraderie and friendships that resonate to this day. He’s looking forward to seeing brothers he hasn’t caught up with for a while at Convention where he said, “we’ll pick up where we left off.”
Avidus: Helping regular people accomplish their financial goals
Brandon founded Taylor Hoffman, Inc. in 2017, a capital management business whose clientele tends to be the very well-off. He wanted to offer these services to a wider audience, and to work with people “who really need us.”
To make investing more approachable, his company launched Avidus, a direct-to-consumer platform that he hopes will let “regular people accomplish their financial goals.”
