Adelphi chapter pays tribute to departed alumnus with scholarship fund
In October, NY Phi Lambda alumni hosted a reunion during Adelphi’s Spirit Weekend, where they payed tribute to the life of Christopher Kampel ’14, who passed away after a valiant battle with COVID-19 in July 2020.
Christopher was a proud brother of the Adelphi chapter. Those who knew him described him as the definition of what it means to be a Fraternity Man. He was incredibly kind, caring and welcoming. Most importantly, Christopher was a man of his word; he was the friend that you could rely on and he sought to find the good in everyone.
Scholarship Fund in Christopher Kampel’s honor
Following Christopher’s passing Adelphi alumni raised funds for the “Pi Lambda Phi Endowed Scholarship, In Memory of Christopher Kampel,” which has already paid out scholarships to two recipients.
Funds were also dedicated to a memorial brick on the path leading to the University Center, and a sitting area on the first floor of the University Center.
Joseph Dujmovic ’11 said of the support they received, “as you can imagine, we are thrilled at the success of the scholarship and are so glad that Christopher’s memory can continue to live on and impact others in years to come.”
