$32,000 in Scholarships awarded by the Educational Foundation
“An investment education always pays the highest returns.” – Benjamin Franklin
Thanks to the generous contributions of our alumni, the Educational Foundation is pleased to announce an investment of $32,000 in 2021 for scholarships awarded to 26 brothers from 17 different chapters.
A college education is becoming more and more expensive with costs rising significantly over the past few decades. Scholarships that recognize hard work and dedication to community and Fraternity can really help our undergrads lessen the financial burden of college.
Established to provide for the educational needs of the undergraduate brotherhood, a primary goal of the Foundation is to offer scholarship opportunities.
How are recipients selected?
Brothers who apply and meet eligibility requirements are selected by a committee of alumni volunteers who rate each applicant for their work in academics, community involvement, Fraternity engagement, and financial need. A committee from the Board of Trustees validates the rankings and determines the individual awards. Awards are provided through the general fund, as well as endowed scholarship funds.
Here is what grateful recipients had to say…
Veer Kaushik, Ohio State University
Owen Price, University of Pittsburgh
“Getting selected for a scholarship by an organization that I’ve ‘worked for, sweated for, cursed, and loved,’ means the world to me. This scholarship reminds me that my time in Pi Lambda Phi is so worth it.”
Antonio Lopez, Adelphi University
“It makes me feel so supported that so many alumni from across the nation donated to help make this scholarship possible. It makes me proud to call myself a brother of this great fraternity and I would not hesitate to do the same for my brothers in the future.”
Peter Sweeney, Drexel University
“Knowing there are alumni who give back to the organization shows me that these are not just faces on a composite, these are my brothers for life.”
Clay Mohler, Temple University
“It shows true brotherhood, pride, and unity that so many alumni donated to help me. This scholarship will put me in a better stance financially for the future. It will help me achieve my dreams and motivate me to do better.”
Harrison Freedman, University of Florida
“You cannot imagine the excitement I felt when I was notified of this honor. It means the world to me knowing so many alumni are willing to support a brother in need, and someday I look to paying it forward.”
Congratulations to our 2021 Scholarship Recipients!
